NEW ADVISOR JOINED THE UBLR
2025-07-02The Editor-in-Chief and the Managing Board are honored to welcome Professor Kristen Boon (University of Ottawa) as new Advisors of University of Bologna Law Review for the EU and International Law area.
KRISTEN BOON is a specialist in international law and contracts. She has a particular interest in treaty interpretation, international responsibility, sanctions, and immunities. Dean Boon is an expert on investor / state dispute resolution. She is also a frequent lecturer and has been awarded visiting fellowships from the University of Amsterdam Faculty of Law, and the European University Institute (EUI). Dean Boon is the proud Editor in Chief of the Canadian Yearbook of International Law. She is also a former member of the Executive Council of the American Society of International Law and a current member of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration’s Academic Council.

UBLR Colloquium - 7th Edition
2025-05-17The University of Bologna Law Review is pleased to announce the seventh edition of its Colloquium series, titled "Oltre il 7 ottobre: l’occupazione palestinese tra guerra e diritto".
We are honoured to welcome Professor Gian Maria Farnelli (University of Bologna) as the keynote speaker.

The event will be held in Italian.
In his keynote address, Professor Farnelli will explore the historical background of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, focusing on the origins and evolution of the Palestinian issue, with particular attention to the legal implications of the occupation of the Palestinian Territories. The lecture will also examine the relevant principles and norms of international law applicable to the events that followed October 7, 2023.
A Q&A session will follow the keynote, providing attendees with the opportunity to engage in a discussion.

2025-05-11The Editor-in-Chief and the Managing Board are honored to welcome Professor Matthew W. Finkin (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) as new Advisors of University of Bologna Law Review for the newly established Labour Law area.
MATTHEW W. FINKIN specialized in domestic and comparative labor law and in higher education law. He is the author or editor, singly or in collaboration, of twelve books including For the Common Good: Principles of American Academic Freedom (2009) (with Robert Post), the treatise Privacy in Employment Law (editions from 1995 to the present), the casebook Cox, Bok and Gorman’s Labor Law (editions from 1991 to the present) and a subtantial body of periodical writing.

NEW ADVISOR JOINED THE UBLR
2025-05-08The Editor-in-Chief and the Managing Board are honored to welcome Professor Guy Davidov (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem) as new Advisor of University of Bologna Law Review for the newly established Labour Law area.
GUY DAVIDOV is a full professor and the Elias Lieberman Chair in Labour Law. His book A Purposive Approach to Labour Law was published by Oxford University Press in 2016. He has also co-edited two books with Brian Langille, Boundaries and Frontiers of Labour Law (Hart, 2006) and The Idea of Labour Law (Oxford UP, 2011), and has published dozens of articles in peer-review journals, including in the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies, Modern Law Review, the University of Toronto Law Journal, Law & Social Inquiry, Industrial Law Journal, and the Comparative Labour Law & Policy Journal.

Manuscripts complying with the editorial criteria and the cultural mission of the University of Bologna Law Review are welcome. An interdisciplinary approach and innovative topics in Legal studies are strongly encouraged.
Previously desk-rejected submissions may be resubmitted; however, manuscripts which were previously submitted to CfP Vol. 10.2/2025 and declined in the Preliminary Assessment phase cannot be considered in any revised form.
Authors are invited to carefully review the Editorial Process (v.4/2024), Author Guidelines, Ethics Code, and Open Access Policy before submitting their manuscripts.
Manuscripts that do not comply with the Submission Rules will be promptly desk-rejected.

2025-01-31The Submission Rules 2.2 and 2.3 have been updated.
2.2
Starting from the Volume 10.2/2025 the word count for submitted manuscripts will be:
(updated in bold)
- Articles and Essays (min. 6,000- max. 25,000 words)
- Notes (min. 2,000 - max. 6,000 words)
- Conference Papers (min.2,000 - max.10,000 words
Authors are invited to take into account that the article metadata, references* and footnotes must be excluded from the word count.
The manuscript must be anonymized.
*The Journal accepts footnotes, only. Endnotes are not accepted. The Bibliography must be included into footnotes.
- The Journal may consider manuscripts exceeding the length of 25,000 words in case of outstanding pieces of scholarship.

During the submission process, Author(s) must include in a separate file (Disclaimer):
(updated in bold)
- Author's name and surname (for each author, in case of co-authorship);
- Current institutional role / professional activity (for each author, in case of co-authorship);
- An e-mail address (the corresponding author's email address, in case of co-authorship);
- Current institutional/professional affiliations (for each author, in case of co-authorship);
- A statement concerning any supporting agencies, source of research funding or other institutional support that facilitated the research;
- A Competing Interest (CI) statement (for each author, in case of co-authorship);
- A cover letter (optional);
Submissions which do not comply with the Publication rules (2.2 and 2.3) will be promptly rejected by the Journal (Desk rejection) and they may be re-submitted during the Call for Papers terms, only.
The Editorial Office remains at Authors' disposal for any kind of doubt or information.

The LOCKSS program offers decentralized and distributed preservation, seamless perpetual access, and preservation of the authentic original version of the content. 2025-01-01From the CfP Vol.10.2/2025, the terms have been updated:
Call for Papers for the Second Issue of the same year of publication: early March - mid April
Call for Papers for the First Issue of the following year of publication: early September - mid October
The deadlines may be extended upon the Editor-in-Chief decision, only.
The Publication Frequency is confirmed every six months (biannually) and the Issues remain open according to a continuous update mode throughout the semester.
